Save for Retirement

U.S. Bank and U.S. Bancorp Investments, Inc. can provide guidance, products and services to help you save for your retirement.

Saving for retirement doesn’t have to be complicated. For many, the key is to estimate how much money you may need, develop a plan, invest with your objectives in mind, then monitor and adjust your plan accordingly.

Our financial professionals will work with you every step of the way to help develop and implement your retirement savings strategy. Once you reach retirement, we can then help you understand your ongoing income needs, then help you manage your portfolio to work toward your goals and help you gain greater peace of mind.

  • Factors to consider include your current age, how much you’ve already saved, projected expenses in retirement, your tolerance for risk and your goals for retirement.

One common rule of thumb is to assume that you'll need 70% or more of your pre-retirement income. With changes in life expectancy, it may be reasonable to prepare for your retirement to last 25 years or more.

Once you’ve identified your savings goal, the next step is to set money aside regularly—at least 10% to 15% of your income. The closer you get to retirement, the more you may want to save.
